The kaleidoscopic ‘WORLDS and WINDOWS’ are predominately comprised of three elements: the person, the detail, and the world. Works in the Centre’s current exhibition ‘Our George Crompton, WORLDS and WINDOWS by Gilbert & George’ feature images of actors, jewels, monuments, nature, and landscapes. The postcards in the works on display were collected by Gilbert & George on their travels, thus creating “ubiquitous mirrors of people, things, and places familiar to the widest possible audience” at the time. 

The ‘WORLDS and WINDOWS’ postcard pictures have not been exhibited since 1990.

Featuring an introductory text by Robert Rosenblum (art historian and curator) this book includes 129 vibrant colour photographs illustrating the entirety of the of the ‘WORLDS AND WINDOWS’.
